CCP Podcast 009: SMACC me hard!

 September 7

by Jonathan Downham

It’s no secret that I love a good SMACC. For those that don’t know this stands for social media and critical care and has been a conference in Australia held over the last two years.

The last conference was on Australia’s Gold Coast and the philosophy behind these conferences is summed up by free open access to medical education or FOAMed. If you # this in Twitter you will come across a wealth of useful resources related to critical care, emergency medicine and prehospital medicine.

In this podcast I got the opportunity to speak to some of those who had been to the last two conferences and also to Chris Nickson one of the organisers of the conferences. We discussed the philosophy behind the conference and some of the things that may be happening in the future.

Go and find SMACC in iTunes where many of the sessions have already been downloaded for you to listen to at your leisure. This provides a fantastic resource and best of all it’s a free one.

Next year SMACC will be in Chicago from June 23-26. I wish I could go but I suspect I may have to wait until the conference comes to Europe.

Have you been to the conference, did you feel the enthusiasm and passion of everybody there? I’d love to hear from you, get in touch and we can talk. Or sign up for my newsletter and I can keep in touch.

I hope you enjoy listening to the podcast as much as I enjoyed making it.
